Description
A particularly pretty vintage Japanese porcelain ginger jar dating from the latter part of the 20th century.
The gently faceted body is decorated in rich cobalt and softer shades of blue with an all-over design of stylised flowers, curling leaves and trailing vines. Fine hand-applied gilding follows the stems and outlines the flowers, giving the decoration a wonderfully delicate quality.
The jar retains its matching faceted lid, which repeats the floral decoration and is topped by a pointed blue-and-white finial. Blue bands and fine gilt lines around the neck and base complete the design.
