Description
A pretty little vintage blue-and-white ceramic vase, decorated with trailing vines, broad leaves and softly painted bunches of grapes.
The vase has a classic baluster shape, with a rounded body rising to a slender neck and gently flared rim. Its spreading foot completes the pleasing silhouette, while simple cobalt bands frame the decoration at the neck and base.
Painted in several shades of blue against a warm white ground, the loose, expressive brushwork brings movement and character to this petite piece. Deep cobalt leaves are interspersed with paler washes and clusters of grapes, creating a lively pattern around the body.
Measuring just 12 cm high, it is ideal for a small posy, a few short-stemmed flowers or a single bloom. It would look particularly lovely on a mantelpiece, bedside table or bookshelf, either displayed alone or incorporated into a collected group of antique and vintage blue-and-white ceramics.
As a vintage piece, it may show minor variations and imperfections associated with its age and handmade decoration.
