A striking and decorative silver-plated three-light candelabra, crafted in a refined Victorian Revival style and adorned with richly detailed grapevine and foliate ornamentation.
The candelabra stands upon a shaped quadrilobed base decorated in high-relief repoussé work featuring clusters of grapes, scrolling leaves, and stylised botanical motifs. Rising from the base is an elegant tapered column supporting three candle sconces arranged on graceful scrolling arms, creating a beautifully balanced silhouette.
The grape and vine motifs are particularly characteristic of late Victorian and Edwardian decorative silverware, symbolising abundance and hospitality, and remained popular in quality silver-plated tableware throughout the early and mid-20th century. Similar Victorian silver-plated candelabra frequently incorporated grapevine decoration and scrolling branches, reflecting the influence of both Rococo Revival and Art Nouveau ornament.
This example appears to date from the mid-20th century, likely c.1950s–1970s, produced in the tradition of earlier Victorian and Regency silver designs. The clean lines of the column combined with the ornate base create a versatile piece that works equally well in traditional, country house, eclectic, or contemporary interiors.
