Description
A beautifully decorative antique ceramic jug from the Royal Hampton Ware line, produced by Grimwades Ltd of Stoke-on-Trent, one of England’s most significant pottery manufacturers and later known globally as Royal Winton.
Dating to the early 20th century, this piece reflects the transition into the floral decorative styles that would later define Royal Winton’s famous chintzware. The design features soft, hand-applied floral sprays in pink, yellow, and blue, set against a cream ground with delicate stippled detailing.
The gently rounded body, elegant handle, and shaped pouring lip give the jug a classic English country house aesthetic, while the subtle gilded band adds a refined decorative touch.
Pieces from this period represent the earlier phase of Grimwades production, before the full commercial success of chintz patterns in the late 1920s, making them particularly appealing to collectors interested in the evolution of English decorative ceramics.
