Description
A striking large vintage ceramic platter decorated in the classic Imari style, featuring richly coloured floral motifs in iron red, cobalt blue, and soft green, accented with delicate detailing.
Inspired by traditional Japanese Imari porcelain—originally produced in Arita and exported to Europe from the 17th century—this piece reflects the enduring popularity of the style, which was widely adopted by English and European potteries in the 19th and early 20th centuries.
The platter features a beautifully balanced design, with a central floral arrangement surrounded by an ornate border, typical of Imari decoration. The warm, slightly crazed glaze and visible wear add character and authenticity, making it a charming decorative object.
Large in scale, it works wonderfully as:
- A wall-mounted statement piece
- A dining table centrepiece
- A decorative charger on a console or shelf
Condition is good vintage, with age-related wear and glaze crazing consistent with use.
Dimensions:
- Width: approx. 40–50 cm
- Depth: ~3–5 cm
